Arabica coffee futures were called to open up 1.0 to 1.50 cents Thursday on the back of buoyant prices in foreign coffee markets amid lingering tightness in Asian robusta supply, floor sources said.
At 8:43 am EDT (1243 GMT), Liffe's benchmark November robusta contract in London was up $31 or 2.2 percent at $1,471 a tonne. In Sao Paulo, nearby arabica futures rose 0.2 to 1.6 percent.
On Wednesday, New York Board of Trade's benchmark arabica coffee contract for December delivery gained 1.70 cents to end at $1.0860 a lb after trading from $1.0780 to $1.1070.
