A former CIA contractor was found guilty on Thursday of beating an Afghan detainee who later died of his injuries. David Passaro, 40, was found guilty in federal court in North Carolina of beating an Afghan man, Abdul Wali, at a US military base in Afghanistan, said Priti Patel, a lawyer working with Human Rights Watch who has followed the case.
A new hearing is expected in coming weeks to determine a penalty, Patel said.
