Carpeting and improvement of road from Lahore Expo Centre to Johar Town and widening of Sultan Ahmed Road would be carried out with a total cost of Rs 34.653 million; these projects would be completed during the current fiscal year.
Punjab Communication and Works Minister, Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan expressed these views while presiding over a departmental meeting here on Friday, disclosed an official.
The meeting was informed that the carpeting of road portion from Lahore Expo Centre to Johar Town was in final stage and would be completed by the end of this year. An amount of Rs 23.844 million had been spent up to June 2006 on this scheme and Rs 1 million had been allocated during the current fiscal year.
The minister was further informed that Sultan Ahmed Road was being widened up to 20-feet and total cost of this project was Rs 9.809 million. As many as Rs 5.500 million had been spent up to June 2006 and Rs 4.309 million had been earmarked in the fiscal year.
He directed the Chief Engineer Highways to accelerate the pace of work on these projects so that these could be completed within the prescribed time frame.
