The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has changed the venue of its anti-Musharraf public meeting scheduled on August 20 and now instead of Grand Truck road it would be staged at Jinnah Park.
"The venue has been changed on a request of District Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali for the convenience of general public on the day," Hakeem Abdul Waheed, spokesman of MMA NWFP said in a press conference here on Friday.
Flanked by Haji Ihsanul Haq of JUI-F and Haji Dost Mohammad Khan of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Peshawar district, he said that all the arrangements for the public meeting had been completed saying that it would be big show than million march rallies held by the alliance earlier.
"We were not ready to accept the request of the district administration. However, the decision was made in the meeting of the provincial cabinet of the alliance," the spokesman reiterated. The public meeting, he said was a part of the anti-Musharraf movement through holding big public meetings in different cities.
The last public meeting of the movement would be held at Rawalpindi in September.
He said a publicity campaign was started from Friday with the distribution of handbills against the anti-people policies of the Musharraf-led government in the country.

He said that the struggle of the opposition would continue till the ouster of President General Pervez Musharraf. Criticising General Pervez Musharraf, the MMA spokesman said that he (president) has stuck to the office of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for the last ten years, violating constitution and law of the country.
President Musharraf, he said, had himself pledged with the nation that he would vacate one post, but breached the promise. Furthermore, he also accused him of taking anti-Islamic steps and killing innocent tribesmen at the behest of others.
Talking about the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, he said that the joint opposition had charge sheeted him in the massive irregularities in the privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM). The opposition, he said required only 28 members for the success of the motion, adding that the holding of secret ballot would decide the case in favour of opposition.
