Rains have affected trading in the wholesale commodities market where supplies have been hit from Punjab markets and prices already on the higher side were being raised continuously during the week ended on August 19, 2006.
On Monday markets were closed on account of Independence Day and hence rates were not being given.
ON TUESDAY ACROSS THE BOARD CHANGES WERE MARKED IN PLASTIC MOULDINGS ON RISE FOR THE LAST ONE WEEK: HDPE injection closed higher by Rs 8.50 to Rs 57, Mobil 016 ended higher by RS 9 to Rs 57, and lucky gained Rs 9.50 to Rs 56.50, HDPE blow Kuwait closed higher by Rs 8.50 to Rs 57, Marlex closed up by Rs 8.50 to Rs 57 and Iran was higher by Rs 8.50 to Rs 57, HDPE 374 climbed higher by Rs 7.25 to Rs 57, MG 20 moved up by Rs 8 to Rs 59 and MG 70 closed higher by Rs 8 at Rs 59, LLDPE WII8 ended up by Rs9.25 to Rs 59, 7087 closed higher by Rs 7 to Rs 59, polypropylene film Thai ended higher by Rs 11.50 to Rs 60, Kuwait went up by Rs 11.50 to Rs 60 and India moved higher by Rs 11.50 to Rs 60, Polypropylene tape grade India up Rs 9.25 to 57.60, Kuwait higher by RS 9.25 to Rs 57.50, and Saudia higher by Rs 9.25 to RS 57.50.
Polypropylene (injection grade) Saudia ended higher by Rs 9.25 to RS 57.75 India moved higher by Rs 9.25 to Rs 57.75, and Kuwait gained Rs 9.25 to Rs 57.50, Polystyrene Pak was quoted at Rs 2,760, Copoly Bloc moved up by Rs 8.75 to Rs 58.25, and Random up Rs 6 to Rs 58.50, High impact (per bag) Pak was quoted at Rs 9200 and Basf quoted at Rs 3120 and ABS (Polylac ended higher by Rs 100 to Rs 3300. On the grain market only change was marked in Mexipak both old and new turned higher by Rs 10 to Rs 1150 and Rs 1160.
ON WEDNESDAY, RATES FROM JOUDIA BAZAR WERE NOT RECEIVED BUT COMMODITIES RATES SHOWED SEVERAL CHANGES ON THE RISING SIDE: Gram Garda gained Rs 100 to Rs 3350 and better type up Rs 3450, gram dal Punjab up Rs 100 to Rs 4000 and better type up Rs 4025, Gram dal yellow peas Canada rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1700 while better type rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1775, beetle chana I closed higher by Rs 75 to Rs 3450 and better type quoted higher at Rs 3550, beetle 50x50 went up by Rs 60 to Rs 3350 and better was quoted hihger at Rs 3470, dal beetle inferior type was up by Rs 100 to Rs 900 but better type shed Rs 100 to Rs 1000.
Wheat Mexipak old ad new gained Rs 10 to Rs 115 and Rs 1160 and Rs 1170and 1175, rapeseed from Nawabshah gained Rs 30 to Rs 900 and better was quoted higher at Rs 920, rapeseed from Dadu low type lost Rs 25 to Rs 750 but better type gained Rs 25 to Rs 775, rapeseed from Mirpur inferior was higher by Rs 75 to Rs 865 and better gained Rs 80 to Rs 875.
ON THURSDAY DESPITE HEAVY RAINS AND DIFFICULTIES IN TRANSPORTATION RATES FROM JODIA BAZAR WERE AVAILABLE AS CHEMICALS SHOWED SOME CHANGES: caustic Soda flakes Saudi (Per Kg) turned down by 50 paisa to Rs 33.50, and Sodium Sulphate closed lower by 25 paisa to Rs 8.25 Petroleum jelly sulphonic acid (DDBSA) moved higher by Rs 1 to RS 83, PVA Japan shed Rs 1 to Rs 143, and caustic Taiwan closed higher by RS 1 to Rs 37, Hydrosulphite China 8.8 pc moved up by Rs 1 to Rs 44 and India down by Rs 1 to Rs 69, Acetic acid Taiwan down y 80 paisa to Rs 68.20 from commodities wholesale market makai was noted (low type) higher by Rs 75 to Rs 800, and the better type was higher by 50 paisa to Rs 825, moong Punjab lost Rs 575 to Rs 4250, Guwar quoted down at Rs 2050, castorseed Lasbela gained Rs 75 to Rs 825, castorseed Sindh and Lasbela rose by Rs 50 to Rs 755.
On Friday might long heavy rains obstructed markets opening and of course, the buyers were not to be seen anywhere. Except the mostly needy could dare to come out on roads because of roads and lanes dilapidated condition. Even the strongest men stumble while moving on the muddy water filled roads. The day was clear but how market behaved on Saturday will be seen tomorrow.
The Saturday session saw steep rise in the price of cottonseed oilcake and decline in the rate of guwar.
