Qazi Hussain Ahmed, President Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has expressed his optimism about the success of no confidence move against Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz saying that secret ballot if allowed by the government would prove last nail in the coffin of premier.
"Whole opposition is united on no confidence and support from treasury side would make the move a success and prove end of the present government", Qazi said while addressing the "Meet the Press" Programme of Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club here on Tuesday evening.
He said that imprudent policies of the government have led the country towards chaotic situation and left only option of suicide for poor and middle class of the country. "People want to get rid of the present regime and come on streets to bring changes in the system", he added.
Talking on Monday debacle in National Assembly in which opposition tore off the copies of the amendment in Hudood Ordinance namely "Women Rights Bill", he said that it was quite contradictory to Islamic jurisprudence. "We did what we think right and surely every un-Islamic move of government would be treated in same way by Muslims of Pakistan", he added.
He said that by introducing this amendment Musharraf want to snatch the Islamic identity of Pakistan and bring women out of their houses to encourage obscenity. "We are not against protection of women rights. But they should be given the right to education, share in parental property and release them from jails", he said adding that MMA would extend help to government in ending the exploitation of poor women who deserve support.
Qazi said that ban on distribution of printed material in mosques is restriction on freedom of expression. "We will distribute pamphlets and encourage people to distribute leaflets and other printed material in front of mosques. Either government use force to arrest us or allow freedom of expression", he added.
Qazi Hussain, who is also Ameer of Jamat e Islami, said that whole opposition is united on one point agenda to send army back to barracks and restrain it within the limits of the constitution. Under few corrupt generals whole army has been maligned. "We want to transform army into a real fighting force which would defend the frontiers of country", he added.
He demanded resignation from General Musharraf saying that he has imposed himself on Pakistan Army from a decade and under his leadership this army has lost its Islamic identity.
MMA chief expressed concern over indifferent attitude of people saying that masses if keep themselves away from national matters would neither prosper nor they safeguard their sovereignty. It is religious and moral obligation of Muslims to get concerned over the plight of Ummah, he added.
He said that Israeli army which defeated Arab forces in six days have tasted defeat at the hands of Hizbullah militia. Hizbullah was equipped with the spirit of Jihad and wish of martyrdom; they were fully prepared and motivated to face Israel. This, he said proved that armies would be defeated but not nations and Mujahideen.
Qazi said that government has taken U-turn on Kashmir and after Afghanistan it is another setback for country as Kashmiri Mujahideen are being declared terrorists to please India. He said Kashmiris were fighting war of Pakistan and Pakistan has declared them terrorists. People ain Balochistan and Tribal Areas are being killed to please America, he added.
He expressed dismay over attitude of MQM in Karachi saying that this party has ruined the law and order to this financial center of country. "Dacoities, robberies, theft, killings and kidnapping is order of the day and life, honour and property of people is not safe anywhere in the country", he added.
