Cricket fans and players on Tuesday protested on the decision of umpire Darrell Hair describing the Australian as a "mini Hitler" and backed Inzamam-ul-Haq who is a symbol of the ancient city of Multan and Hero of Pakistan.
The cricketers Atiq-ur-Rehman, Professor Javed, Usman Arif, Lal Zaman, Muhammad Nasir, Shehzor Yamin, Danish Afzal, Saim Rafi, Omar Arif, Jehangir Moon, Irfan Haider demanded an action against the umpire for giving partial, unjust, unethical and biased decision.
They supported the television camera trial suggestion given by Inzimam-ul-Haq,"
Darrell Hair had tarnished the image of umpiring by giving injudicious decision and it was a severe blow to cricket," they added. They said that what a pity that umpire levelled the charge of ball-tampering on Inzimam-ul-Haq when 56 overs had been completed and ball his decision to protest against ball tampering accusations saying he would have done the same if he were in Inzi's shoes.
Jahangir Moon expressed his dismay over the controversy that resulted in the fourth Test here at The Oval forfeited and England awarded a win. "What an extraordinary day. What a sad day for cricket. Amid all the confusion, the farce and the rights and wrongs, the whole sorry saga of events at The Oval will come down to one crucial point," he remarked.
Senior cricket players in Multan could not understand how Hair could penalise Pakistan for ball tampering without any clear proof. "Did Darrell Hair actually see a member of the Pakistan team tampering with a cricket ball? Has he got proof? If he hasn't, then he has made a massive mistake," they warned.
Different local cricket clubs on Tuesday staged demonstrations in Khanewal, Multan and Bahawalpur on Tuesday against the partiality of Darrell Hair and chanted slogans against him. Participants were demanding cancellation of Darrell's registration as international umpire because he is prejudice, biased, unfair to Pakistan.
Maulvi Sultan Alam former judge and President of Multan Cricket Association also condemned the Australian umpire Darrell Hair who gave a decision against sportsman spirit.
