Raw sugar futures were called to open 0.15 cent per lb. lower on Tuesday, based on orders placed before the open and on lower white sugar prices in London, exchange floor sources said.
London's October white sugar contract traded on the Liffe was down $2.20 at $375.80 per tonne by 8:39 am EDT (1239 GMT), and set a range from $375.50 to $381.10 per tonne. December futures fell $1.60 to $375.4, but trading was thin. At the New York Board of Trade on Monday, the raw sugar contract for October delivery finished with a modest 0.04 cent loss at 12.14 cents a lb. and set a tight trading range from 12.09 to 12.30 cents.
