Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Syed Raza Ali Gillani, has approved a new housing scheme under public-private partnership for Tehsil Pindi Bhattian over 60 acres of land. This housing scheme is a part of the comprehensive action plan evolved for the development of small cities.
The Punjab minister for housing approved this scheme while presiding over a high-level meeting of Punjab housing and Town Planning Agency (Phata), here on Wednesday. Secretary Housing Khalid Sultan, Director General Phata Shahzad Jamil and senior officers of Finance, Planning & Development, Local government and Urban development departments also attended the meeting.
The minister was told that under this scheme, 600 plots of five Marla to one kanal plots would be made available to public. Under this scheme 46 acres of land would be obtained from private owners whereas 14 acres of land would be acquired under Land Acquisition Act 1894. All basic amenities would be provided to the residents in this scheme, he added.
The minister said that area development scheme of Pindi Bhattian was first of its kind which would be a planned scheme. He added that 30 percent-developed plots would be owned by private landowners and Phata will have ownership of 70 percent plots.
He told that out of a total of 600 plots, 50 percent plots of 5-Marla would be reserved for low-income people. He said that these five Marla plots would be allotted through open balloting on no-profit no-loss basis.
He said that main objective of establishment of such housing schemes in small cities was to generate employment opportunities and to check the tendency of migration to big cities.
He also approved amendment in clause 22 of the Phata building regulations. According to this amendment, in any zone, two or more plots may be combined for construction of one building subject to the condition that they are owned by the same person or allottee/owner is an attorney holder of the second plot or applicants are blood relations.
