The Crop Reporting Service Cell (CRSC) of Sindh Agriculture Department should be reactivated and surplus staff be posted to its vacant posts, ordered Sindh Chief Secretary, Fazalur Rehman here on Wednesday.
Addressing a meeting in office, he said the reactivation of the CRSC was a must for booting agriculture sector in the province. He said that available financial resources should be utilised in a proper manner to further develop the agriculture sector.
The meeting was given a presentation on the performance and problems of the CRSC. On the occasion, a book, Sindh Agriculture Statistical Data from 1947 to 2005, complied by the CRSC, which contains important areas and product wise statistics of about vital crops like wheat, rice, sugarcane, cotton, maze, barely, Jute, sunflower, tobacco, Guwar, pluses, oil seeds, vegetables and fruits was presented to the chief secretary.
