Lately some sections of the press and the electronic media have inadvertently joined in propagating an impression alleging DHA and CCB (Clifton Cantt Board) for their apathy and inaction in salvaging the rain affected areas of Bath Island from the unprecedented havoc unleashed in the aftermath of the torrential monsoon rains.
The perception that areas of Clifton and Bath Island, which are submerged in knee-deep rainwater, fall under the jurisdiction and administrative control of Clifton Cantt Board (CCB) or DHA is fallacious and totally wrong.
Clifton Block 8 submerged in knee-deep water as a result of discharge of the accumulated rain water from Clifton under pass to these low lying areas which is under the control of CCB. CCB has employed its efforts to the fullest to combat the rain emergency, which however, has not borne the desired result vis-à-vis the effort. This was because of the limitations of low lying location of the area and non-availability of adequate drainage outlets, which are passing through Block 7 under CDGK.
The relentless rain emergency operation launched by DHA and CCB to drain out the standing rainwater is formidable however, it continues incessantly despite the available resources being simply not enough to match the enormity and the magnitude of the catastrophe caused by the monsoon rainfall.
Administrator Defence Housing Authority Brigadier Maqsood Hussain in a press statement has expressed DHA's resolve to combat the onslaught of the rain disaster effectively despite all odds in the best possible manner.-PR
