Managing Director Power Wapda Lahore, Engr Muhammad Anwar Khalid directed Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) authorities to expedite recovery and meterisation in Fata so that the targets set for the purpose are achieved.
He said this while reviewing the targets report set for the field formations here at Wapda House on Thursday. Tesco Chief Executive Officer Engr Saeed Khan, director general commercial, Wapda Lahore, manager headquarters, manager material management, manager operation and deputy managers operation also attended the meeting.
Engineer Muhammad Anwar Khalid stressed the need for putting all out efforts to achieve considerable progress in getting the outstanding dues recovered in Fata. Industrial, irrigation, commercial and consumers having illegal independent transformers should be meterised, he directed.
He said it was the sole responsibility of the operation divisions of Tesco to gear up efforts at their own level with the co-ordination of the political administration to bring improvement in the financial position of the company.
MD Power said industrial consumers should be charged according to the meter reading or their connected load to avoid any additional charges for these consumers. He asked Tesco authorities to put all out efforts for achieving the targets set for the current year because all the Discos will have to meet its expenditures through their own sources as Wapda's distribution wing has already made a corporation.
He directed Tesco chief executive officer to take over the administrative control of SS$TL Division in Fata by October 1st, next.
Earlier, Tesco Chief Executive Officer Eng Saeed Khan informed the meeting that meterisation and recovery could not get momentum due to the non-tendency among tribesmen for getting proper connections and payment of electricity bills.
He said tribesmen were using electricity lavishly, which is not only a major cause of the financial instability of the company but also a major reason of low voltage and load management problems.
The CEO said the company could not get tangible assistance from the political administration, the single law enforcement agency in Fata, probably due to their preoccupation in other issues, including law and order situation.
However, despite the tough resistance by tribesmen, the company has improved recovery rate as compared to the corresponding year. Referring to the recovery from public sector consumers, he said the situation was not different from the other consumers.
All the field formations have been assigned the duties to recover outstanding electricity dues from government connections in Fata, he remarked. On this occasion, Tesco Chief Engr Saeed Khan and Manager Operation, Engr Miran Khan briefed MD Power regarding the billing, collection and meterisation in Fata besides other company related issues.
