The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore is establishing an Outreach Veterinary Centre to provide veterinary medical facilities to farmers on their doorsteps.
The centre is being established on Jaranwala Road, some 12 kilometres away from the main campus Lahore, under a project funded by the Higher Education Commission Islamabad.
The centre will cost Rs 4.7 million and will be completed by next year. With its completion, the centre will work as a model veterinary hospital and will provide treatment for all animal diseases, besides breeding facility of animals.
Practical facilities will be available for the students at the centre.
The centre will also create awareness among the livestock farmers about various diseases of animals, their cure, vaccination, breeding, farming and nutrition.
