Widening and improvement work of Defence Road, Kahna Raiway Crossing to Bohpitian and Barki Gowindi Road would be completed by the end of current fiscal year at a cost of Rs 117.526 million.
Punjab Communication and Works Minister Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan stated this while presiding over a meeting here on Thursday. Secretary C&W Ahmad Yar Khan, Additional Secretary (Technical) Masood-ur-Rasool, Chief Engineer Highways Muhammad Iqbal Khokhar, Superintending Engineer Munawar Bashir and other concerned officers were also present in the meeting.
Secretary C&W briefed the meeting that the work on seven kilometers long Defence Road from Kahna Railway crossing to Bohpitian is in full swing and total cost of this project has been estimated at Rs 62.412 million.
During the current fiscal year Rs 2.803 million has been allocated for this scheme and Rs 59.609 million has been spent during last fiscal year. Likewise, the widening of Barki Gowindi Road would be completed at a cost of Rs 53.114 million while Rs 44.400 million had already been spent by the end of last financial year, whereas Rs 8.714 million has been earmarked for this scheme during the current fiscal year.
The Minister said that present government is determined to complete development scheme in a record time and this image would be maintained at every cost. He directed the Chief Engineer Works to accelerate the pace of work on ongoing schemes so that these could be finished within the stipulated period. However, there would be no compromise on the quality of construction material, he maintained.
