Nokia said on August 25 that four out of the six business units that will make up its new telecoms networks business with Siemens will be run from Germany.
Nokia and Siemens agreed in June to combine the bulk of their telecom networks units to form Nokia Siemens Networks. They said at the time that three out of five units would be run from Germany.
"There is no real major change. We have included services as its own unit now," said Nokia Networks spokesman Barry French.
Nokia said the services, IP networking and transport, core and applications, and broadband access units would have division heads in Germany. The operation support systems and radio access units will be run from Finland.
"The business units of Nokia Siemens Networks will be global organisations with management and personnel distributed in many countries, including both Finland and Germany," Nokia said in a statement.
The new Nokia Siemens Networks, the world's fourth-biggest telecoms infrastructure company, expects to start business at the beginning of 2007 after getting regulatory approvals.
"We are making excellent progress in planning for the start of operations at Nokia Siemens Networks," said Simon Beresford-Wylie, who will be chief executive of the new firm.
