I am pleased to extend my heartiest felicitations to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on the completion of their latest project; the supply of natural gas to Murree Hills.
With this outstanding achievement, SNGPL has crossed yet another milestone, while contributing profusely to socio-economic development of the nation in general and the area in particular.
Ever since its inception, SNGPL has exhibited an appreciable level of service and consumer loyalty, which has earned it a unique status in the national economy. Our government aims at maintaining an accelerated GDP growth rate of at least 8%, at the same time ensuring that the benefits of economic development trickle down to the masses. The foremost requirement of an accelerated growth rate is a solid infrastructure, and sustained availability of fuel and energy.
Tourism is a priority industry with our government. It does not only facilitate economic development of the people belonging to attractive areas of Pakistan but also helps in improving the overall image of the country.
Murree Hills are blessed with immense beauty and attract countless tourists and vacationers round the year. Such a large number of visitors apply pressure on local natural resources. Provision of natural gas will minimise the requirement of firewood, which will help in preserving the forests of Murree Hills. The supply of natural gas to this Hill station seeks to bring about socio-economic revolution in the area.
I am glad that SNGPL has shown good progress in providing ever-increasing services to an ever greater number of consumers. Its development is dynamic and, I believe will remain the power behind national progress.
