Zila Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed has called proposals of immediate nature and inter taluka benefiting development schemes from all Taluka Nazims of the district within shortest possible time so that same could be decided in forthcoming meeting of Zila Mushawarti Committee and be implemented for efficient deliveries to the common people.
This he observed while presiding over meeting of Zila Mushawarti Committee at Zila Nazim Secretariat Hyderabad on Wednesday. Taluka Nazim Hyderabad City Javaid Jabbar, Taluka Latifabad Engineer Sabir Hussain, Taluka Nazim Qasimabad Noor Muhammad Shoro and Taluka Nazim Hyderabad Khawand Bux Jahijo including their Naib Nazims, DCO Hyderabad Muhammad Hussain Syed and other officers attended the meeting and took part in the deliberations.
Lauding the devolved system of the government, the Zila Nazim said that responsibilities of union councils, Taluka Municipal Administration and district governments had been bifurcated with delegation of powers to each entity under the SLGO with a view to get the basic problems solved at grass-root level.
He said the purpose of Zila Mushawarti Committee was to consider all development schemes specially which were beyond the capacity of lower entity but beneficial for the common people, besides this committee serve the platform for mutual co-ordination and to avoid duplication in development works.
He said that district government Hyderabad was already implementing on inter Taluka development schemes and even was engaged in preparation of other such development schemes beneficial for all the talukas of the district and other districts as well.
Giving the details of such schemes, the Zila Nazim said that district government Hyderabad was planning to establish an amusement forest on 1,000 acres of land and a safari park on 100 acres separately and revenue authorities had been directed for identification of required land.
He said that development of Rani Bagh Hyderabad was another project being implemented by district government at its revised estimated cost of Rs 70 million, and added that those schemes would facilitate all people of the Hyderabad district and other districts of interior Sindh as well.
He said in addition to that a project of flyover at lined channel at the point of railway crossing at the cost of one billion rupees would be started during this year to facilitate the travellers of Mirpurkhas, Tando Muhammad Khan and Badin districts as well.
He said that to ensure the supply of filtered water to the people of all three urban talukas, a project for establishment of four new filter plants was already under execution by the district government Hyderabad.
He said it was the only district government Hyderabad, which was implementing over the project to dispose off its city effluent across the Phuleli canal instead of disposing it in the canal to the interest of lower riparian. Other districts of downstream should also follow the district government Hyderabad to make the canal pollution free water career for the inhabitants of its lower command, he added.
The Zila Nazim informed the meeting that district government had managed four fire-brigade vehicles and one vehicle would be provided to each TMA of the district.
He said that provision of UC-wise garbage lifting vehicles was also being managed and with the passage of time this problem of the talukas would be got resolved.
While talking about the shortage of staff, the Zila Nazim asked the TMAs concerned to recruit the required staff on contract or daily wages basis and assured that he would help them for getting necessary permission granted from the competent authority.
The Zila Nazim said that his government was giving top priority to drainage network and had energised all the drainage pumping station with standby generators. He said it was because of timely efforts of district government that rainwater of heavy downpour was disposed off immediately. However the system would further be strengthened in future, he assured.
The Zila Nazim also asked the Taluka Nazim to launch anti-dog campaign to eliminate pie and straw dogs at their respective areas after every three month for which district government Hyderabad would provide financial assistance to them.
He informed that talukawise anti-mosquito spray campaign had already been started in the district and asked the Taluka Nazim to supervise the spray movement in their respective areas so that chance of malaria disease could be prevented before its emergence.
The Zila Nazim Hyderabad informed the meeting that recently in a decision all concerned assistant EXEN had been made responsible for covering of open manholes in their jurisdiction, and asked the Taluka Nazim to conduct survey about open manholes in their areas and to identify lacking, if any, so that action could be taken against defaulting staff.
