KARACHI: A one-window operation commenced on Tuesday at the Karachi Driving Licence (DL) Branch in Clifton.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, A.D. Khawaja, performed the inauguration.
He got his driving licence renewed at the branch by paying his fee and fulfilling the process, a spokesman of the Sindh Police said on Tuesday.
The DIG DL, Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh, in his briefing informed that this will help ensure issuance of licences in a shorter period of time.
Besides, this will eradicate `agent mafia' as well as the issuance of `fake licences', he added.
About the salient features, DIG DL further spokes of the latest software, new design of the card, mobile phone application, SMS service, online registration facility etc.
With the new system people within the country as well as those abroad can also benefit.
One can fill in the application while sitting at home and that few minutes' time is required acquiring Learner's Licence, renewal as well as getting the new licences.
The IGP directed that other driving licence branches should also be equipped with latest system.
