The federal government on Sunday issued a fact sheet claiming that Nawab Akbar Bugti was involved in violations of human rights and disruptive and terrorist activities.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammed Ali Durrani claimed that Bugti used to get arms and ammunitions from other countries, which were used in terror activities against personnel of law-enforcement agencies and his personal rivals.
At a news conference here, he also criticised the opposition for trying to use Akbar Bugti's death for their political motives and said these people had no affection or sympathy for him but they raise the issue merely for their vested interests. Durrani said the government opened its door to dialogue and settle the issues politically with Bugti, but he switched from his politics to violence during the last couple of months.
The action taken against Akbar Bugti would not impact the overall political scenario as the tribal chief had already changed his political way to violence, he opined.
The information minister claimed that in 2005, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) leader Liaquat Baloch had complained that Akbar Bugti killed one of his relatives. "Akbar Bugti was denied the entrance into Islamabad in Nawaz Sharif's government; whereas, in Benazir's era, the then interior minister Naseerullah Khan Babar also launched operation against Bugti," the information minister said.
The minister also indicated that Akhtar Mengal, Khair Bux Marri and Balaach Marri had also been found involved in disruptive activities. He also informed that Bugti was the murderer of at least 60 people, including his political rivals, ie, Ameer Hamza Bugti, Asadullah Bugti and Muneer Ahmed Bugti and more than 74 FC officials were targeted. Durrani said the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan want to be friends and there was no looming threat to Pakistan's solidarity.
