Colonel Dr Irshad Ahmed Khan (TIM) has said that acupuncture is an ancient Chinese way of treatment being practiced in China since 2500 BC on human beings. Speaking at a seminar on "Acupuncture and the latest western research" at the Institute of ALT Medicine, he said this miraculous treatment bring cure to almost all disease.
It has been found successful against even those diseases where other systems of medicine have nothing to offer like myopathies, genetic problems, asthma, mentally retarded, rheumatoid, arthritis, heart diseases, polio, piles, diabetes, paralyses, etc, he added.
Dispelling the impression, he said that acupuncture needles was not causing diseases like hepatitis or AIDS. "No educated doctor will ever commit this immoral crime and can be best avoided by properly sterilising the needles and keeping these needles separately for each patient," Dr Irshad maintained.
He said acupuncture strengthen the inborn defences of the body and enable it to fight out the disease. Urging upon government, he said government should establish acupuncture units in every hospital in the country to provide public with this facility of medical treatment.-PR
