The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Muhammad Ali Durrani, has said that the government intends to take the opposition into confidence on all issues, including Women Rights Protection Bill.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said that negotiations with opposition on the Bill were in progress and would yield positive result. He said that the government "will not bulldoze the bill". He asked the opposition to strengthen the Parliament and democratic system as people "are fed up with negative politics". He said that the government has already asked the opposition to co-operate with it in holding free and fair elections.
The Minister expressed concern over the meeting of opposition leaders with Indian leaders abroad, and said that the statements of Indian government on Balochistan "make it evident that external elements are involved" in exploiting the situation. He said the nation should take notice of such meetings.
Regarding DNA test of the body of Akbar Bugti, he said that the government had not received any request in this regard. He said that the government would co-operate with family members of Akbar Bugti and would provide all facilities according to the law of the country, "if they are willing for DNA test". He said that the government had earlier requested them to participate in Bugti's burial.
He said that the situation in Balochistan "is under control and it is coming towards normalcy". He said that it is the responsibility of the government to take action against the terrorists involved in acts of sabotage, and to and maintain law and order.
He said that the government wants to start political process in Balochistan with involvement of the people. He said the rights of the people of Balochistan would be protected, and the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee would be implemented in letter and spirit.
About opposition's public rally on Septmber 17 in Quetta, the Minister said that the government believes in constructive politics and will not allow opposition to take law in their hands and destroy public and private property.
Durrani said that the agreement, with local tribes in Waziristan, would pave the way for maintaining security situation. He said that terrorist activities would be eliminated with the involvement of local people in Waziristan, and termed the agreement as a positive development. He said that the government wants to resolve the problems with involvement of the people.
Earlier, addressing the certificate distribution ceremony for Volunteers in Rescue and Relief, the Minister commended the role of volunteers, which they played in different relief operations in the country.
He said that with the establishment of the Movement, a new culture of sacrifice would develop among the youth. He said the spirit of sacrifice would be promoted in the country so that the people would work selflessly in the relief operations. Later, he distributed certificates among the volunteers, including foreigners, who took part in earthquake relief operations in Charsadda and Murree.
