The Punjab Government will spend an amount of Rs 7 billion for promotion of Information Technology (IT) and people will be imparted IT training free of cost. Punjab Minister for IT, Abdul Aleem Khan, said this while addressing a function held to welcome the appointment of Raffles (Pvt) Limited as authorised distributor of Apple(r).
He said that computerisation in public dealing departments was being introduced for the benefit of general public and management information system was being prepared for the hospitals. He acknowledged that Raffles has wealth of experience in support, sales and service with strong network across Pakistan and was well-positioned to work with computer users, and resellers to make available Apple products and technology to the Pakistani market. "This will act as a backbone in the strong economy and regional evolution", he added.
Political and economic officer US consulate, Amanda Pilz said that, "Now with the availability of Apple(r), Pakistan hardware industry is refreshing in these globally tough times for IT sector".
Chairman Pakistan Information Technology Board (PITB), Rizwan Amin Sheikh, Managing Director Raffles, Amir Qureshi, Director Raffles, Ibrahim Qureshi were also present on the occasion.
