Skipper Rahul Dravid said Saturday India were determined to do well against formidable Australia and the West Indies in a triangular one-day series starting in Malaysia next week.
"Australia are world champions. The West Indies have beaten us recently in a one-day series and we are keen to change that," Dravid said before the team's departure for Kuala Lumpur.
The tournament opens on Tuesday with a match between World Cup winners Australia and the West Indies. India play their first game on Thursday against the West Indies. Each team will play four league matches before the top two advance to the final on September 24.
While India have not played a one-day international against Australia for two years, they were thrashed 4-1 in the Caribbean in May. Dravid said his team had the batting depth to cope with the challenge.
"We have flexibility and depth in our batting and the key is to use it well," he said. "Our aim is to play competitive cricket. If we do that, I am sure the results will come." The Indian captain said the team would not hesitate to experiment with the batting order if the situation demanded. "It all depends on situations and pitches. If the need arises, we will consider all (batting) options available to us," said Dravid.
