Petrol prices in the United States dropped nearly 22 cents a gallon in the past two weeks, a survey showed on Sunday. This was the second decline in a row since a mid-August peak, according to the survey of 7,000 petrol stations nation-wide.
The average for self-serve regular in California was about 2.92 dollars, a drop of nearly 15 cents in the past two weeks, the Lundberg Survey found. The national average for self-serve regular petrol was about 2.65 dollars a gallon on September 8, about 35 cents less than last year at this time, according to the survey.
Mid-grade prices averaged 2.77 dollars a gallon, while premium stood at 2.87 dollars. Petrol prices peaked August 11 at 3.02 dollars a gallon and have fallen nearly 37 cents since. In the latest survey, Des Moines of Iowa reported the lowest gas price of 2.32 dollars a gallon for regular while the Honolulu saw the hiighest price of 3.17 dollars.
