A three-member committee comprising Federal Minister for Water and Power, Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Federal Minster for Political Affairs, Amir Muqam and NWFP Chief Minster, Akram Durrani will shortly visit the proposed site of Swat Hydel Projects.
The high-powered government delegation, on the directives of the prime minister will meet the local people regarding their concerns on the project and will thoroughly examine the other problems being faced by the IPPs towards smooth conduct of feasibility study.
It is pertinent to mention here that 101MW Swat Hydro Power Project is proposed to be set up on River Swat at Gabral Kalan by the private sector investors but people of the area are resisting the project and exploiting it politically.
However, the government is giving high priority to the hydel power projects and encouraging investment in this sector by resolving all their genuine problems to meet growing needs of the electricity at affordable rates.
At the same time the government is fully conscious of the resettlement issues and will ensure that the projects bring prosperity for the local people of displaced population.
The official delegation's visit to resolve problems is a part of the government policy to provide investment-friendly environment to the private sector, said a spokesman of the Ministry of Water and Power.
