"Chinese export commodities exhibition" will be held here from September 21 to 24, showcasing industrial potential of west Chinese province of Xinjiang. A delegation of 200 persons from Xinjiang, mostly industrialists and businessmen would participate in the expo, Chief representative of Kashghar Prefecture Xu Xiao Qiang told newsmen at a press conference here on Monday.
Xu Xiao Qiang maintained that the products to be put on display included electronics, home appliances, textiles and garments, furniture, oil and foodstuffs, mechanical equipment, automobiles and automobile fittings, agricultural, forest and husbandry products.
He said Pakistan and China had a long history of friendship and both the countries had signed preferential trade agreement (PTA) in 2003 and an early harvest agreement, which came into force on January 1 this year. He hoped that those steps would boost Sino-Pak trade significantly. To a question, he said that talks on Pak-China free trade agreement (FTA) would hopefully be held by the end of this year. He also praised President Pervez Musharraf's steps for the promotion of Sino-Pak relations.
The exhibition is being jointly organised by the Bureau of Trade Development and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce of China, Development of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China Council for Promotion of International Trade Xinjiang Branch, Administrative Office of Kashgar Prefecture and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
