Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has directed on Tuesday all the DCOs in the province not only to perform their duties as DCOs, but also fulfil responsibilities as a Pakistani so that common man is benefited from completion of development schemes.
The chief minister, in a circular, called for stability of prices during Ramazan and also on other days, and cautioned that adulteration of eatables, particularly ghee, spices, chillies, gram and gram-flour and other commodities will not be tolerated and difference between quality and quantity will not be ignored.
He directed the use of magisterial powers by DCOs, EDOs and DDOs(Revenue) and told them to take action against hoarders, profiteers, adulterators, and those responsible for undue price-hike.
The chief minister made it clear that any delinquency in the discharge of responsibilities or negligence provide an opportunity to unscrupulous elements to indulge in violation of law. He also directed that Sanctity of Ramazan Ordinance should be enforced in letter and spirit.
It was decided that home, industry, and local government departments would promote liaison with each other and ensure stability of prices and sanctity of Ramazan and also seek police assistance as and when needed.
