Jindal Stainless has organised a conference on enhancing competitiveness through usage of Cr-Mn (Chrome-Manganese) Austenitic Stainless Steel, here on Tuesday. The conference was well attended by the manufacturers, traders, from stainless steel and people from sugar industry. Jindal Stainless has long association with Pakistan.
Speakers, on the occasion, were of the view that government is giving special attention to infrastructure development projects. Per capita stainless steel consumption in Pakistan is around 0.5 kg as against more than 04 kg globally, which indicates huge potential of growth in consumption, they said.
Jindal Stainless has pioneered manufacturing of 200 series material in late 80's when nickel prices skyrocketed and stainless steel became unaffordable for the masses.
During the last few years' consumption of 200 series material has gone up to 10 percent of global consumption and more than 30 percent in China, which is the largest consumer of stainless steel in the world, consuming more than 6 million MT.
China, India, Vietnam and Indonesia are highly competitive globally in manufacturing kitchenware, cookware etc. It is because of high usage of 200 series material, they added.
