President's US visit termed highly successful

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Muhammad Ali Durrani has termed the President's US visit very successful. In an interview with a private TV Channel.
He said that the President declared Palestinian issue as the root cause of international terrorism and made it clear that till the time this issue was not resolved hurdles would keep emerging in the efforts of resolution of several global issues.
Durrani said that the President addressed the key US figures and think tanks and told them in loud and clear words that Pakistan didn't need aid but access to the US market. Above all the President truly represented the viewpoint of the nation on all international issues, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and Kashmir, he added.
Central Information Secretary of PML-N, Ahsan Iqbal on the occasion said that the success or any visit of the kind was gauged through its results or achievements.
He said that the leaders of the day were over-obsessed from foreign tours and every often and then they were seen travelling abroad. This was the seventh visit to US of General Musharraf, while his predecessor, late General Zia-ul Haq had visited America for two times only in 11 years.
The most important issue in this regard was the discriminatory deal for civilian nuclear deal with India, on which we had raised a great deal of hue and cry, he added.
The second important matter, the PML-N leader said was the defence needs of Pakistan, though America prior to this visit even had announced to sell F-16s to Pakistan but nothing was discussed for the indemnification of the losses Pakistan had to face in the past through Pressler Amendment.
Ahsan Iqbal said that another important issue was Kashmir that was sidelined during this visit, adding "Terrorism was another important issue, especially the way, we are being accused of harbouring terrorism and the situation at the Pak-Afghan border, and instead we were made answerable before Hamid Karzai. Earlier, we used to make assurances to the US and then to India and now Afghanistan."
Iqbal said that the agreement of the government in North Waziristan, women rights bill and the curriculum, all these were our internal manners and America had no right to interfere in this regard. "No sovereign nation would present its legislative agenda for approval from another country, I think we have further compromised our national sovereign during this visit", he cleared.
