Co-chief executive of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) Thomas Enders said on Thursday that production would continue at the group's site in the northern German city of Hamburg amid rumours it would be switched to Toulouse in France.
"I want to underline very clearly our commitment to Hamburg," Enders said after a meeting with German Economy Minister Michael Glos. The rumours have increased in recent days in the wake of more delays in the production of the A380 super jumbo, which is manufactured by Airbus, a subsidiary of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space company.
The Hamburg-Finkenwerder factory employs 12,000 people to make the A380, which will be the world's largest commercial airliner, and the mid-haul A320 jet. Germany is represented in EADS through the 22.3 percent holding of DaimlerChrysler.
