Speakers at a seminar on "Environmental Issues" organised by Young Women's Christian Association, here on Friday have asked the government to take immediate steps to check environmental pollution which is leaving negative effects on public health.
Among others, Rubina Malik, secretary general of the association, Angelina Roy, Saba, Sarah and Sammar addressed the seminar. The speakers while expressing grave concern over environmental degradation urged the government to promote use of CNG by giving some incentives to transport sector.
They said that all the public transport should be converted on CNG.
They further asked the government to plant more and more trees on roads and also stop the trend of cutting trees in the name of developmental projects.
They also demanded that all the drains should be properly covered and cleaned regularly.
