An exhibition of Pakistani carpets and leather products in Bucharest, Romania, created a wide interest among local importers as well as representatives of the diplomatic community and general public.
A large number of people visited the exhibition to get themselves informed about the quality of Pakistani products. Earlier, in a discussion with Ambassador Sanaullah and members of the delegation, Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Deputy Director General Mrs Ancuta Conta agreed to conduct similar exhibitions alternatively in Romania and Pakistan.
Both also discussed the prospects of Pakistani exports to Romania and the neighbouring countries, especially after Romania's accession to European Union in January 2007. Mrs Conta asked Pakistani traders to participate in Tibco Fair (Consumer Products Exhibition) next year to explore market for Pakistani furniture and interior decorations.
Carpet Association of Pakistan Chairman Ghafoor Sajid informed the Romanian side that he would make a serious attempt to organise a single country carpet exhibition in Romania next year. He also would ask chairman of the Pakistan Furniture Association to participate in the Tibco Fair.
Further, he said that the Export Promotion Bureau was planning to open a display-cum-warehouse in the region. He sought chamber's assistance to facilitate acquisition of business visas for Romania. The delegation took time out to survey the local market to determine prospects for Pakistani exports.
