In Punjab Assembly session that commenced on Friday, two reports were presented before the House, one of the 'Auditor General of Pakistan on the Accounts of Government of the Punjab for the year 2003-04'and other 'Annual Report of the Punjab Public Service Commission for the year 2004'.
The first report was referred to 'PC' committee and the other that had been laid was left to be discussed in the House later. Uzma Bokhari MPA speaking on a Point of Order in the Assembly brought to the notice of the House of ill treatment meted to a female by Shahdara Town Police.
She told that female while in investigation was undressed and tortured. Muhammad Basharat Raja Law Minister assured the House of severe action on this unfortunate incident.
Replying to another Adjournment Motion by a legislator regarding medical treatment to Services Hospital, the law minister stated that Punjab government had given clear instructions to all the hospitals in the province making it unequivocally clear that medical help should be provided to all patients coming into the hospitals and if any legal formality was to be done, it could be done at the later stage.
Speaking on an Adjournment Motion presented by MPA Sheikh Alla-ud-Din regarding commercialisation of property in Punjab, Housing Minister Raza Gillani told that provincial government was bringing a comprehensive policy on the subject and recommendations on this policy were presently in final stage. The MPA speaking further on the subject stated that government had failed to deliver in cases of flouting of commercialisation rules in Lahore in its certain areas.
On a question by MPA Syed Ehsan Ullah Waqas, Minister Raza Gilani said that it was correct that 'Nullah' that flows between Akbar Chowk and Ghazi Chowk originally catered to rain water flow, later on the residents of Johar Town due to lack of proper sewerage conditions commenced throwing their sewerage into it, he added. The minister said now sewerage conditions in this area were being gradually improved.
Replying to a query by MPA Sami Ullah Khan, the housing minister told that currently there were 41 water schemes in the city of Lahore. He added that 34 of them were operational while seven of them had been temporarily closed.
Public Health Engineering Minister Mushtaq Kayani replying to a question by MPA Arshad Baggu stated that it was correct that Technical Resource Base for Public Health Engineering was established to support chief minister Punjab's endeavours in development in the province.
The minister denied that certain development projects could not be timely approved due to chief minister Punjab being busy with other work. Later, the chair adjourned the House for Monday.
