Ambassador Kamran Niaz held quarterly interactive meeting with the overseas Pakistani community living in Japan at the embassy premises here on Sunday. According to report received here, a large number of community members participated in the open forum.
They observed two-minute silence for those who died in the earthquake which struck northern parts of Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir on October 8 last year.
Appreciating the community's endeavours in raising funds for quake victims, the ambassador said the overseas Pakistani community in Japan had set a good tradition of sacrifice and patriotism.
All associations of the Pakistani community including religious, social or business bodies had launched a countrywide fund-raising campaign and donated both in cash and kind for the quake victims in Pakistan.
On behalf of the government and the people of Pakistan, Kamran Niaz expressed profound gratitude for Japanese overwhelming response, adding the government and the people of Pakistan would never forget this gesture of Japanese nation.
Ambassador Niaz said government of Pakistan valued services of the overseas Pakistanis and assured the participants that the mission would extend all possible help to resolve community's problems.
