A high-level committee headed by Sindh home adviser Waseem Akhtar, after crime analysis of each town, finally decided to replace TPOs of towns where criminal activities, particularly street crimes, were not under control.
The move is part of the fresh strategy formulated by the provincial government to combat street crimes in the cosmopolitan city.
The committee, comprising adviser to chief minister for home affairs Waseem Akhtar, provincial police officer (PPO) Jehangir Mirza and Karachi CCPO Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui, discussed the performance of TPOs in detail and finalised replacements of officers.
Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Jehangir Mirza told Business Recorder this reshuffling was part of the ongoing process, which was underway to arrest rising crime rate in the metropolis.
"The criteria behind this reshuffling is performance alone," he said, added the performance of officers was closely monitored and persons, who were unable to match the momentum of the team, were replaced. "We have remove the weaker links and the process is also on at the lower levels also. This is a matter of days now and sooner an effective team will be completed," he remarked.
Likewise, DIG operations had already been asked to closely monitor the performance of SHOs in the city and issue transfer and posting orders according to their eligibility.
The following transfer/posting orders of TPOs have been issued here on Sunday:
Dawood Ahmed, PSP (BS-19) has been transferred/posted from SSP, Traffic Zone-II to Town Police Officer, Lyari town vice Shah Nawaz Khan DSP, who would continue to work as SDPO, Lyari. DSP Abdul Hafeez Junejo of Lyari Task Force will, henceforth, work under the direct supervision of TPO, Lyari.
Abdul Aleem Jaffery, PSP (BS-19) has been transferred and posted from AIG (Logistics) CPO to TPO, Bin Qasim town, CCP vice Asif Ejaz Shaikh transferred and posted as TPO, Keamari town vice SP Athar Rasheed Butt directed to report to the CPO.
Khurrum Shahzad Haider, PSP (BS- 18) has been transferred and posted from ADIGP (Investigation) CCP to TPO, New Karachi town, CCP vice Fayyaz Ahmed Qureshi, SP, transferred and directed to report to the CPO.
Farrukh Bashir, PSP (BS-17) has been transferred/posted from Taluka Police Officer, Sehwan, Jamshoro district to TPO, Orangi town, CCP vice Muhammad Shati Rind, DSP, transferred and directed to report to the CCPO.
Sohail Zafar Chatha, PSP (BS-17) has been transferred/posted from SDPO, Darakshan CCP to TPO, Korangi town, CCP vice DSP Shah Jehan transferred and directed to report to the CCPO.
Shad John Masih, DSP (BS-17) has been transferred/posted from ADIGP (special branch) Sindh to TPO, Landhi, CCP Karachi vice Muhammad Qasim Ghauri, DSP, transferred and directed to report to CCPO. However, name of the seventh TPO to be transferred could not be ascertained.
