Deputy Chairman Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed said here on Sunday that only 35000 quake survivors were residing in camps. Talking to BBC he said, about 31 to 32 thousand people are living in 41 camps in Azad Kashmir and more than three thousand survivors are residing in the NWFP in three camps and the temporary residences that have been provided to them, are full-fledged.
To a question he said, 'When you are doing such a huge work, complaints are received. The people who have such problems should fax their complaints and we will redress them at central level,' he added.
To another question about disabled people he said, 256,000 families have been registered who are either run by widows, have any disabled persons or have orphans.
'We have started Cash Grant Programme for them, under which we are distributing Rs 3,000 per month for six months. Secondly, our livelihood programme is about to be launched. We will make them skilled. Khushali Bank has started a scheme for such people,' he added.
Lieutenant General Nadeem, to a question said, 'We had formed Target Enrolment Teams.' They visited different areas and were stationed at schools or other such buildings in various localities. They called people through public announcements for registration. However, those women who have not yet got themselves registered can apply under our Grievances Redressal System, he added.
He said, the government of Azad Kashmir was fully involved in it. So far, as the Master Plan is concerned, it was complete, he said.
To another question he answered, work on Azad Kashmir University is nearing completion. Its five buildings have been constructed. The construction is far better than old one, which had collapsed.
Besides, another proper university is being built at Chattar plain with the Saudi funding. It will cost fifty million dollars he said.
