The neglected Siberian markets have tremendous potential for Pakistani products. Pakistani entrepreneurs should explore this neglected region and penetrate in the area, which is looking for good quality products.
This was stated by Farooq Afzal, Chief Executive, Integrated Textile Network (ITN) and Director of Pak-Russia Business Council of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on return after an extensive tour of Siberian region.
To explore the untapped potential of Siberian regions, the ITN Group of companies has established its office in Moscow and nominated a representative in Barnaul, the capital of Altai Republic of Western Siberia. ITN Group of companies, Pakistan and PAVA-ROS of Republic of Altai, Russian Federation signed an agreement in September to enhance exports of Pakistani rice and other food products to Siberian region.
According to the contract, the PAVA-ROS will purchase 5-7 thousand MT of rice per month from Pakistan through ITN and sell it through its 50 outlets across Siberian region.
Farooq Afzal also visited Altai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with the President of ACCI, Boris Chesnokov. After detailed discussions, and deliberations, both sides agreed to sign a protocol to organise mutual visits of business delegations, holding of single-country exhibition in each other's country, co-operation between chambers of commerce and industry, co-operation in field of water and power recourses, science and technology, food and agriculture, tourism, culture, information technologies and telecommunications.
He said that an exhibition of home textiles was held in Moscow in September, organised by ITN-TEXTILEXPO, where 14 Pakistani firms participated.
