Muhammad Irfan Khokhar, Chairman, LPG Distributors Association Pakistan, has warned the government that LPG distributors will launch a countrywide strike in the month of November if their demands are no met.
He also criticised the marketing companies for not implementing the 'Ramazan Package' announced by the Prime Minister recently to provide relief to the LPG consumers.
Despite directives of Oil & Gas Regulator Authority (OGRA), the LPG marketing companies have failed to reduce the prices, which is sheer violation of the government directives, he stated in a statement, here on Monday. OGRA has fixed Rs 550 price for a domestic cylinder weighing 11.8 kg, but the LPG market companies are still charging Rs 600 per cylinder from the distributors, which is not fair.
He urged the government to take notice of defying the Prime Minister's orders by the marketing companies. 'If our demands are not fulfilled, we will have no option but to go for a countrywide strike in the first week of November, Khokhar warned.
Counting the demands of the distributors, he said they want subsidy for the domestic consumers like India, fixing the commission of distributors at 10 percent, withdrawal of deduction on abolition of agreement of dealership/agency by a distributor with a marketing company, immediate withdrawal of tax imposed on LPG plants etc.
