An independent radio programme project 'Meri Awaz Suno' aired a series of earthquake disaster follow-up news stories about the living standard and a critical review of rehabilitation and reconstruction phase in quake-hit zone.
A series of 15-minute duration five radio programmes named 'Zandigi Aik Saal Bad' (Life after one year) was aired on the eve of October 8 tragedy that took place last year. Meri Awaz Suno is a unique initiative by a team of young women journalists.
The first follow-up radio programme is about 'Government High School Balakot' that was one of the best schools of the area and equipped with all the modern facilities like science and computer labs.
The radio programme laden with interviews and background voices which draws a sketch of school's situation from the eyes of its students after one year.
'Meri Awaz Suno' is the first-ever radio programme produced by women journalists to raise awareness among the society about a broader spectrum of social issues.
It also produces programmes on current issues, including 'facilities provided by Utility Stores', "the personal story of Manu Bhel", "Wani in Mianwali", "Haris in Sindh", and "mobile stealing and measures taken by PTA". 'Meri Awaz Suno' was first time aired in November 2003. The programmes are offered free of charge to private FM radio stations. Internews, an international NGO sporting open media throughout the world supports the 'Meri Awaz Suno'.-PR
