The Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) President Raja Zulqarnain Khan has said that the recent visit of President Pervez Musharraf to quake-hit AJK on the eve of the first anniversary of the October 8 quake has raised the morale of Kashmiris dwelling at either side of the line of control.
"The reconstruction and rehabilitation process in affected areas will proceed ahead steadily after October 8 visit of the President of Pakistan to AJK", Raja Zulqarnain Khan said, while speaking as the chief guest at the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of AJK Union of Journalists (AJKUJ) held on the occasion of a convention of the AJKUJ in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
Advisor to the AJK President Dr Z.U.Khan and other senior officials of the AJK government were also present on the occasion, while working journalists from all over AJK attended the convention.
Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Sayed Safwan Ullah, Member AJK Legislative Assembly, Tahir Khokhar and senior journalists from various parts of AJK including newly elected President Salim Parwana, Chief Organiser, Altaf Hamid Rao, Secretary General, Muhammad Amin Butt, Sardar Jamil Sadiq, Sardar Zaheer Khan, Raja Sohrab Ahmed Khan, S.A.Bukhari and others also spoke to the convention.
The AJK President applauded the role of the print and electronic media particularly the local journalist fraternity for highlighting the massive loss caused by the killer earthquake of last year - besides inviting the immediate attention of the international community towards the deadly outcome of the history's calamity.
Raja said that AJK journalists were performing well their professional duties through giving due coverage to the activities of all segments of the society indiscriminately.
