The University of Karachi has decided to discontinue the holding of supplementary examinations for the degree class students. The Pro vice-chancellor of KU, Professor Dr Akhlaq Ahmed, stated this on Wednesday.
The University authorities took the decision to this effect after it was realised that the supplementary examinations were not feasible for the university and the students.
Therefore, the supplementary examinations of B.A. (Pass) and B.Com would no more take place in future. Professor Akhlaq said that this had also been done to facilitate the regular examinations of KU and the affiliated colleges in a smooth manner. He pointed out that holding of the supplementary examinations remained suspended for about a decade and resumed couple of years ago.
Professor Akhlaq also said that the number of the students in the affiliated colleges had increased rapidly over the years. As such the KU had to conduct the examination of about 100,000 students. In view of all this, it had been decided to discontinue the holding of the supplementary examinations, he further stated.
