City District Nazim, Raja Javed Ikhlas has asked the traders to sell edible commodities on reasonable prices and avoid illegal profiteering and hoarding during the holy month of Ramazan.
"Government would not spare anyone involved in hoarding or illegal profiteering and would have a check on prices in the district", Nazim said while talking to different delegations in his office.
He said that the trend of earning more profit during Ramazan should be curbed and it is only possible with the close liaison between traders, consumers and civil administration. In other parts of the world, the traders deal economically before their festivals to appease the poor segment of the society.
He urged the traders not to extend their stores to the footpaths. He said that due to the increasing load of traffic in the markets, the businesses of the traders were also affected badly.
He advised the traders not to park their vehicles in the shopping areas. He said that construction of parking plazas is on the card of Rawal Town administration due to which the burden on markets will reduce automatically.
Nazim said that the all the major markets of the city are being checked regularly during Ramazan by district price control committees along with price magistrates and several shopkeepers have been fined and punished. He said that no leniency would be conducted to the profiteers and hoarders.
City District Government would utilise all its resources for saving the citizens from the menace of artificial price hike created by some traders. He said that the quandary of accumulation of edible items to make dishonest profit should also be abolished and for this purpose the co-operation of traders with district government is imperative.
