"The Chosen One has become a man of action."
"What action? As far as I know he is unable to do much without the President's express approval. Some even contend that if something were to happen to the President..."
"Like what? I mean it's not as if the Lotas are going to abandon him as long as he holds the two offices."
"Well let's say he loses his control over power..."
"How? He has the army on his side and pretty much does what he wants."
"Anyway, they say that if something were to happen to the President the Chosen One will be out of the country on the next available flight."
"Wouldn't the army protect him?"
"The army protects its own - he hardly qualifies as an army man. See protégés or Lotas are always dispensable."
"I see. But what action has the Chosen One taken?"
"He has written a letter."
"That's something else. A letter written by the Prime Minister! Who was the letter addressed to?"
"To the four provincial chief ministers!"
"Lotas all."
"Though the degree varies!"
"As it must in a democracy like ours!"
"Indeed."
"What was the letter about?"
"Telling them to take special measures to control crime."
"That is rather a useless exercise. I mean it's not as if they are going to make any changes based on a silly letter. They would argue they need more manpower and resources to control the crime due to some extent to the Chosen One's economic policies."
"Right. It reminds me of Robin Hood but with a twist. Rob the poor and give the rich."
"That's not fair."
"Well, isn't he providing subsidies to the industrialists and the big landlords and relying on sales tax for the bulk of government revenue - and we all know sales tax is highly regressive."
"Well, if you are going to get technical..."
"I am. One question: why didn't he call the chief ministers? Why write letters?"
"Maybe it's practice for his memoirs!"
"No one will buy his book. It's not as if the guy is a decision maker!"
"That's true - will you tell him or shall I?"
"Leave it be. Let the market tell him."
