Opposition leader in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the government will not be allowed to amend the Hudood Ordinance. Talking to his party workers in Jamia Madina here, he alleged that by amending the Hudood Ordinance on the dictations of the US government would damage the Islamic identity of the country.
He added that Pakistani nation would never allow Musharraf-led government to play the American game. He claimed that the present Pak-US relationship can in no way be termed as friendship because it lacked equality and mutual trust, which are prerequisites for friendship. It is a master-slave relationship, the opposition leader added.
Maulana alleged Musharraf was being pressurised by the Americans for a crackdown on Madaris and warned the religious parties would resist fiercely if the government took any action against the religious schools.
