Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade leaped 6 percent to two-year highs and new contract highs early on Thursday following the release of bullish crop and stocks data by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), traders said.
At 10:58 am CDT (1558 GMT), CBOT corn was up 2-1/2 to 17-1/2 cents per bushel, with December up 17-1/4 at $3.01-1/4 per bushel. UBS Warburg bought 1,000 December contracts near the open, traders said.
