Pakistan, including 20 other delegates from 16 countries will take part at the ministerial level seminar on poverty reduction here on October 17. The seminar 'Poverty Reduction for Developing Countries' will also coincide with the 14th International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
According to organisers, Dr Salman Shah, Adviser on Finance would attend the moot. It is jointly hosted by Chinese State Council, Leading Group Office for Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOP) and Chinese Ministry of Commerce and organised by International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) and co-organised by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
LGOP Director Liu Jian, senior government officials from Chinese Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khalid Malik, UN Resident Co-ordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in China and resident representatives of related countries will address the seminar.
About 20 government officials working with the poverty reduction in 16 developing countries ranging from Asia (Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Turkey) to Africa (Mozambique, Egypt, Ethiopia and South Africa), South America (Colombia, Argentina and Ecuador), North America (Cuba and Mexico) and Oceania (Fiji) will attend the seminar.
It will provide an opportunity to delegates to examine and exchange discussion on Chinese experience with economic growth and poverty reduction, for analysis of challenges and options to poverty reduction in the developing world and for further expanding collaboration in the area of poverty reduction.
