Sialkot district government is spending more than Rs 2.2 million during current fiscal period for the social welfare of special children. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Saturday.
The special children would also be provided free textbooks, uniform, wheel chairs and hearing aid instruments besides pick and drop facility and Rs 200 as stipend per month. The step has been taken for making the special kids a useful citizen of the society and to enable them to play their due role in all round development of the country sources added.
The district government was also considering to conduct a detailed survey of special children in Sialkot, Pasrur, Daska and Sambrial tehsils of the district for assessing the exact number of handicapped children in the area sources revealed.
