World number 11 Henrik Stenson of Sweden, a member of Europe's victorious Ryder Cup team, has entered next month's Champions Tournament in Shanghai, organisers said on Monday. Tiger Woods will lead the strongest field assembled for a golf event in China, with 10 of the world's top 20 players having confirmed their entries.
Jim Furyk, Retief Goosen, Paul Casey, Colin Montgomerie, Luke Donald, Padraig Harrington and Chris DiMarco will also be battling for the first prize of $833,000. The tournament, which marks the launch of the 2006-2007 European Tour season, is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour, the PGA Tour of Australasia, the Sunshine Tour and the China Golf Association. The total prize fund of $5 million is the largest in Asia.
