The Swiss franc stood flat against major currencies on Monday as markets positioned themselves for a number of central bank speeches, after the Swiss currency's six-month low against the dollar last week.
The franc was slightly weaker against the dollar, trading at 1.2727 per dollar. The franc was almost unchanged versus the euro, changing hands at 1.5929 per euro. On Friday, the franc dipped to a new low at 1.277 per dollar, after a preliminary reading of the University of Michigan consumer sentiment survey for October came in higher than expected. Markets were eyeing speeches from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet due later in the day.
