The University of Sindh has planned to organise one-day 'Shaikh Ayaz Conference on Language and Literature' on January 10, 2007. The conference will be arranged at the Faculty of Arts building at Allama II Kazi Campus Jamshoro.
In this regard, the conference organising committee met on Monday with Sindh University Vice Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui in the chair. Committee Chairman Dr Qasim Bughio informed the meeting participants that the conference is aiming to highlight the contribution of noted poet and intellectual towards different aspect of the literature and language.
The meeting also discussed the arrangements and approved the formation of different committees. It was decided that five sessions would be held, including inaugural and conclusion sessions. After an inaugural session the first technical session would be held on 'Language, 2nd session on Literature and 3rd would be on 'Contribution of Shaikh Ayaz towards language, literature and society.
Scholars will present papers in English, Sindhi and Urdu languages. November 15, 2006 was fixed as the last date for receiving proposals from scholars for reading research papers.
